Day off.
All day I was thinking about the museum to choose for final project. It was Monday and most of the museums were closed. We decided to explore Krutitskoe courtyard
Then we went to the Mayakovsky museum, but it was closed
None of these museums matched for final project. Then I remembered our winter fantastic trip to Vitoslavlitsi Museum, Velikiy Novgorod
Vitoslavlitsi is the Museum of Old Wooden Architecture. I came home and started to explore all the information about this museum
All information is from this site
I watched short film about Vitoslavlitsi, maked some sketches for future logo and went to bed
Really good morning to start new day.
I came at 10 and worked with my font alone in the classroom. Then Dmitry came and we were talking about some good fonts:
About font compatibility:
And then about identity
After lunch we continued our work with Mitja Harshak. This time we designed a poster based on our fonts, printed our work on A3 paper and the review started:
At the end of the day Dmitry Chernogayev announced the final task: select any museum and develop identity for it. Final presentation will be on the 7th of August.
The day started at 11 with practice classes. We build our fonts into vector shapes and prepare for final presentation, which was scheduled next day.
The second part of the day we talked about formats, modular grids and typesettings with Dmitry Chernogayev:
Dmitry showed the history of fonts:
In the evening Leonid Slavin talked about different pictograms of the Olympic Games and we had a live discussion.
I came home late, but it was really exiting day. Awaited presentation of self-made fonts will be tomorrow, and I want to be at school at 10, to have an hour to polish everything before the lesson starts.
Mitja Harshak came to us from St. Petersburg to talk about Font Archaeology
Then we got a task to find forms, fonts and letters in the city environment and develop font on their basis. Note for future students: it’s better have your own camera and laptop than use those provided by school. I began to roam around the neighborhood:
Аnd then I found it:
And started to draw sketches for my future font:
After that there was lunch time and we went to Novozhilov cafe.
The second part of the day we talked about patterns with Dmitry Chernogayev:
